the day when i had a question

I was walking home and when i looked up and saw the sky, i thought of a question. The question is if a spaceship filled with air can be devastated when there is a hole in the ship, how come the earth would not even though the ozone in the atmosphere above the artic is damaged. By theory, the earth's matter should have been sucked out into space. One of my answer is the earth's magnetic field however, it is still not very convincing.
